The Two Women Who Fell in Love on ‘The Bachelor’ Vietnam Are Officially Together

Update, October 16: The two contestants who fell in love on the set of The Bachelor Vietnam are now an official item, Buzzfeed reports.

It all started when Minh Thu confessed during a rose ceremony that she was in love with fellow contestant Truc Nhu. Thu asked Nhu to leave the show with her; Nhu, however, decided to stay and give the Bachelor a shot. But she was eventually eliminated—and realized she had feelings for Thu. “The moment when Minh Thu left and I stayed behind, I had a lot of longing. I had a lot of memories of our time together,” Nhu told Buzzfeed.

Now, they’re dating. “My older sister was worried if I could ever find a husband and would be able to find happiness,” Nhu said. “I told her this was completely real and asked her, ‘Don’t you want me to be happy? If I’m happy in this relationship then you need to support me and not scold me. Going the traditional way and having a husband and child doesn’t necessarily mean that you will find happiness.'”

Original Post, September 24: Two women decided they’d rather be with each other than their rose-carrying suitor on The Bachelor Vietnam, and the Internet’s feeling things because of it.

Here’s what happened, based on a clip from the episode Buzzfeed pointed out: Quoc Trung, this season’s bachelor, ultimately decided to eliminate a contestant named Minh Thu after getting to know her for several weeks. (The Bachelor Vietnam started airing in August.) Instead of crying over Trung, though, Thu made a confession: She’s actually in love with another female contestant, Truc Nhu, who did receive a rose at the ceremony.

“I went into this competition to find love, and I’ve found that love for myself, but it isn’t with you. It’s with someone else,” Thu said to Trung after she didn’t receive a rose. She then walked over to Nhu and started crying in her arms. “Come home with me,” Thu says to Nhu, who’s near tears herself.

Nhu seemed to agree to this and attempted to give her rose back to Trung, who protested the decision. “I want to let you know that I think you’ll have regret if you continue with what you’re about to say,” he said.

“I’m sorry,” Nhu said to Trung in response. “I’m giving back your rose…. I know you’ll find someone who really loves you.”

Twitter clearly had no chill about this moment, with several people posting messages in support of Nhu and Thu.

However, the story doesn’t end here. Later on the show it was revealed that Nhu had a change of heart and decided to go back and try things a second time with the suitor, Trung.

Talk about a whirlwind—and this isn’t even the first time this has happened. In 2016 two women on Australia’s iteration of The Bachelor ditched the suitor and started dating.
