After months of intense rumors and back-and-forth promises, Spice Girls fans finally got word that the iconic band really is getting back together for one more epic world tour. But the shows will sadly be missing one key ingredient: Posh Spice.
People immediately started sharing their theories as to why Posh Spice, a.k.a. Victoria Beckham, isn’t joining the tour: Some thought it’s because she’s too famous or didn’t want to be associated with the group any longer. But, as it turns out, there’s a much simpler reason. According to Melanie C, they completely forgot to invite Beckham to come on the world tour in the first place.
“It’s actually quite funny—I saw Victoria recently and you know, obviously we’ve all been in contact, she’s still very much a part of the Spice Girls,” Melanie C (Sporty Spice) shared in a recent appearance on The Johnathan Ross Show. “But she did raise the point that she was never actually asked…because we just presumed.”
“I spoke to her two days ago before the announcement and…she’s said for years that she just doesn’t want to do it anymore,” Geri Halliwell (a.k.a. Ginger Spice) added during the interview. “She’s busy with her fashion, she’s moved on. But the philosophy for us lot is that we’re a band on and off the stage and we care about each other, we support each other, and we support her…so it’s all good.”

Thankfully, Beckham doesn’t seem bitter about never receiving her official invite to join the ladies on their tour. Instead, she’s taking the high road, helping the women promote the tour on social media.
“Today marks a special day for the girls as they announce the first tour dates since we performed together in 2012! I won’t be joining my girls onstage again, but being in the Spice Girls was a hugely important part of my life and I wish them so much love and fun as they go back on tour next year,” Beckham shared in an Instagram post about the tour. “I know they will put on an amazing show and the fantastic fans past and present are going to have a wonderful time! X vb #spicegirls #friendshipneverends.”
