Taylor Swift is currently touring in Australia, but fans think she’s up to other business down under, too—like working on her seventh album.
Here’s the evidence: On Sunday (October 21), Swift posted a carousel of photos to Instagram of herself playing Scrabble with her mom with the caption, “Let the games begin.” The visible chips in Swift’s game are B, I, O, I, E, which have a launched a very convincing fan theory. You see, in Scrabble, the letter “B” gives you three points in a game, while vowels give you one point. If you add up those aforementioned letters, you get—wait for it—seven.
Several Twitter users think this means Swift’s seventh studio album is in the bag. “Uhm okay so B in scrabble is worth 3 pts. while I, O, I, E are all 1 pt. each so if you’ll get the sum, it is equal to 7 and the caption says ‘Let the games BEGIN.’ oh mY GOD, WE ARE READY FOR IT!!! #TS7,” one person wrote. Fans aren’t off-base for thinking Swift is already at work on #TS7. During an acceptance speech at the People’s Choice Awards last month, Swift hinted that her next project was in progress. “I always look at albums as chapters in my life. And I’m so—to the fans, I’m so happy that you like this one. I’m so happy that this means that you like this one,” she said, referring to Reputation. “But I have to be really honest with you about something: I’m even more excited about the next chapter.”
This quote, paired with the fact that Swift is the queen of hidden clues and secret subtexts, is enough to send fans over the edge. Looks like we’ll have to wait and see about this one. Regardless, though, fans are “ready” for whatever is coming.
