Last week all eyes were on the Bachelor finale (oh, how times have changed). If you forget, Peter Weber proposed to Hannah Ann Sluss after it was clear front-runner Madison Prewett was gone for good, but then he broke up with Sluss because he was still torn. Some time later, host Chris Harrison convinced Prewett to get on a plane and express her true feelings to Weber. They got back together until the live “After the Final Rose” special, where their time in the hot seat took a turn for the disastrous. Three days later, the two called it quits and that is the whole story.
Or so we thought. According to a source with People, Weber and Prewett weren’t technically a couple between filming for The Bachelor and the “After the Final Rose” special. “They were never really back together,” the source said. “They just realized they couldn’t make it work.”
“As Peter and I have decided to go our separate ways, I am confident that we will both move in the direction of our purpose and never forget that God has a plan in all things,” Prewett wrote on Instagram, announcing the supposed split on March 13. “I will always love and respect him. I am convinced our paths were meant to cross and we are both better because they did.”
Despite rumors that Weber has been seeing producer Julie LaPlaca and/or former contestant Kelley Flanagan, the source with People reports that “Peter is single” and “taking some time” to plan his next move. “He is aware that people think he made a ton of mistakes,” the source added.
As for Prewett, another source told the publication that she is “saddened” by how everything turned out. “She cares for Peter and wanted to work through their challenges. But it just got too difficult and seemed like everything was against them,” the source said.
For Prewett, at least, I recommend some self-isolation Skype hangouts with Selena Gomez.
