Minka Kelly Says Her Titans Costume Is Way Worse Than Her Male Co-Star’s

Titans is coming to the DC Universe streaming service, and the new series is promising a lot of practical effects. Recently, Minka Kelly revealed that thanks to those practical effects, her costume in Titans is quite heavy. More challenging, in fact, than her co-star Alan Ritchson. No matter what he says. Per Minka:

Superhero suits are notable for being uncomfortable, at least for most people. Some are skintight. Some are simply ugly and not fun to wear. Some don’t really breathe or come off easily, leading to sweaty actors. Some show a lot more skin than others. Some, as Minka Kelly stated, just weigh a lot.

Minka Kelly spoke out to ComicBook.com about the fact that Titans strives to do everything with practical effects, which means that the suits they wear might be heavier than if VFX were heavily involved in the process. Her comment was spunky and seemingly came after her co-star mentioned it took eight people to get him into his costume during filming.

While Minka Kelly, who plays Dove in the new show, did not reveal how long it takes to get into her costume, it’s likely a while, as Ritchson also said it takes 30 minutes to get him ready and rearing to go as Hawk for Titans, also noting that it’s a multilayer process with a lot of snaps.

Insofar as costuming goes, we previously also heard from Anna Diop, who plays Starfire, also spoke out about costume concerns related to her character. In her case, she will eventually be getting a costume that might more be in line with what comic book fans are used to, saying,

At New York Comic Con, the Titans world premiere happened, and the show also got great news when DC announced it would definitely be returning for a second season. The early subscription numbers for the DC Universe service should already be in, and Titans is kind of the flagship for the new product. If you’d like to get in on the DC universe, Season 1 of Titans will be hitting the streaming service on Friday, October 12, and reviews are already available for the brand new show. (If you aren’t up on the calendar, that’s tomorrow.)
