Since the dawn of the Jurassic Park franchise, the magic of making dinosaurs come to life has been one part impressive visual effects and another part digital magic. Without one, the other doesn’t feel as exciting, and as the Jurassic World franchise has proven in its two entries thus far, that truth is still as relevant today as it was back in 1993.
Which makes the fact that director Colin Trevorrow has shown off his commitment to maintaining the practical aspects of Jurassic World 3 absolutely heartwarming. Check out Trevorrow’s tease at the remote controlled side of things in the video below:
The first thing that comes to mind when seeing this new indication of where Jurassic World 3 is heading is to try and puzzle out which dinosaur this skinless mechanical marvel happens to be. While it cannot be confirmed, the best guess would be that this skull belongs to an incomplete Brachiosaur.
Looking at the shape of the skull, as well as the fact that its’ tongue seems to be quite agile, and thus important to the creature’s overall features, those two characteristics seem to peg this animatronic as one of the iconic species that suffered the greatest tragedy in Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.
Further speculation on this Jurassic World 3 creature is that due to the size of its’ head, it’s more than likely a young specimen of the species. Which brings another interesting prospect to the forefront of this line of questioning, as we keep watching the video from Colin Trevorrow’s cryptic tweet about “work.”
More specifically, is this a new Brachiosaur created by someone with the genetic tools that have been unleashed into the world after the events of Jurassic World? We’ve seen dinosaur proliferation used as one of the overarching themes in the latest series of films in the franchise, so with the ability to create these creatures being widespread, someone may have done the world a solid and brought a new version of this gentle giant to life.
However, much like everything else in Jurassic World 3, the true answers to those questions are kept pretty tightly under wraps. All we really know is a huge adventure involving a world where dinosaurs once again roam the Earth is in play, with old friends and new forming a team that’ll deal with whatever challenges that setting throws their way.
Surely that’s enough for fans of the series to come back to the table yet again. But no matter how you feel about the fandom, it should at least be a welcomed prospect that Jurassic World 3 could see a baby Brachiosaur bouncing into the world yet again. How can anyone resist an adorable little dinosaur?
