Madonna confirm dates of 40th anniversary tour

Madonna has announced a global tour that will feature four decades of her biggest hits.

The Madonna Celebration Tour will visit 35 cities, starting July 15 in Vancouver, Canada, and stopping across North America before arriving in Europe, where the pop star will perform in 11 cities throughout the autumn.

The tour will include a performance at The O2 in London on 14 October, as well as shows in Barcelona, Paris and Stockholm.

Tickets will go on sale starting January 20 on Madonna's official website.

“I am excited to explore as many songs as possible in hopes to give my fans the show they have been waiting for,” the singer said in a statement about the outing that will span her four decades in music while paying respect to New York City, where her musical journey began. Bob the Drag Queen will be the special guest on all the dates.

Those dates were hampered by Madonna's back injury, which forced several cancellations, and her set lists were dominated by 11 or 12 songs for the night.  Only a handful of tracks from the album and earlier classic releases.

The new tour was revealed via a video commemorating Madonna's 1991 documentary Truth or Dare.
