Kate Hudson’s Baby Girl Has Arrived, and the Inspiration for Her Name Is So Sweet

Congrats are in order for Kate Hudson! The actress announced the birth of her daughter on her Instagram on Thursday afternoon, October 3, with the caption: “She’s here.” In the post she writes, “Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”

The little girl, born on October 2, is the first child for Hudson and her boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa. She’s also mom to two sons—Ryder and Bing—from previous relationships. And it seems that the actress and Fujikawa had family in mind when deciding on their daughter’s name: Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.

“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawsa,” Hudson writes. “Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor.”

Hudson first announced her third pregnancy and that she was having a girl on social media via a video with many pink balloons. She also confessed in the post that she’d been suffering from morning sickness.

“SURPRISE!!!,” she wrote. “If you’ve wondered why I’ve been so absent on my social channels it’s because I have never been more sick! It was the most sick first trimester of all my children…We have been trying to keep this pregnancy under the radar for as long as possible but I’m a poppin now! And it’s too darn challenging to hide, and frankly hiding is more exhausting then just coming out with it! My kids, Danny, myself and the entire family are crazy excited! A little girl on the way 💕”

And since the announcement, she’s been taking followers along on her pregnancy journey—from family vacations and baby showers to workouts and trips to The Ellen Degeneres Show with her mom, Goldie Hawn, to promote their Fabletics collaboration.

Congrats to the family on the birth of baby Rani Rose!

‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ First Full Trailer Is Here, and It’s So Good

After a promising teaser, Netflix has cast a spell on us mortal viewers by releasing the full-length trailer for its upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series. And while the teaser relied more on spooky jump-scares that paralleled Carrie or, uh, the complete antithesis of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch sitcom of the early aughts, Netflix leaned in to campier fun this time around—Sabrina’s a pretty goofy teen, after all!

As we discover, Sabrina (the perfectly cast Kiernan Shipka) is doing what suburban teen girls usually do at that age: go on fun dates, flirt a little, complain about school, and fight with her family about trivial matters. But underneath her facade of normalcy is a looming choice of astronomical and permanent importance, which we’ll allow our gal to explain in her voiceover: “In the town of Greendale, where it always feels like Halloween, there lived a girl who was half witch and half mortal, who on their sixteenth birthday had to choose between two worlds. The witch world of her family, and the human world of her friends. And that girl is me.”

It’s not not like she’s unwilling to forsake the path of light and follow the path of the night, she just needs a little more time to be convinced that worshiping Satan for the rest of her life is the right path for her. So, off she goes into juggling her mortal high school life with her witch training life, and those paths inevitably diverge at inconvenient times. (A séance during first period is totally inconvenient.) Her aunts, Salem the cat, and boyfriend Harvey all help along the way. What could possibly go wrong?

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will debut on October 26.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Were So Touchy-Feely at Today’s Royal Engagement

Very important news, fam: Meghan Markle was spotted giving Prince Harry a back rub during an official royal engagement on Wednesday (October 3).

The couple is currently touring Sussex (the land of which they are duke and duchess) and attended a meet-and-greet with a group of children. While Prince Harry was busy high-fiving and fist-bumping the little ones, Markle gave him a loving back massage. Royal reporter Rebecca English caught the entire adorable moment on camera (which lasted for nearly a minute), and as with all things related to Markle and Prince Harry’s PDA, we’re swooning.

Fans took to Twitter to praise Markle’s tactile moment. “I love that they hold hands. Nice to see in this mad world. It is refreshing to see that they are comfortable showing their respect and love for each other. Tiny displays of affection but very sweet,” wrote one user. “I actually think it important to show affection by holding hands in front of school children. It would be good if children saw this example at home. Unsaid words = affection. Simple,” agreed another.

Perhaps Markle was simply returning the favor for her royal hubby, who has been known to rub her back during official visits. At the WellChild Awards last month, the prince was spotted caressing his wife’s back in a similar manner. The couple has become well-known for their PDA, which has ranged from hand-holding at events to a very, very memorable smooch at a polo match over the summer.

Markle’s impromptu massage session wasn’t the only adorable moment to come out of Wednesday’s visit to Sussex. Prince Harry’s high-fiving was nothing short of aww-worthy, and the prince also buddied up with a friendly golden retriever. Frankly, our hearts can barely handle it.

Sarah Jessica Parker Says She Can’t Imagine ‘Sex and the City 3’ Without Kim Cattrall

Unfortunately for those still holding out hope for another Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda reunion, Sarah Jessica Parker may have just shut down plans for a third Sex and the City movie once and for all. Months after she and Kim Cattrall each traded (indirect) remarks about the possibility of a second sequel—to recap: Parker is a yes, but Cattrall is a hard no—SJP admitted that she’s not willing to move forward with SATC 3 if all four women aren’t involved.

Early Wednesday morning, an apparently avid fan took to the comments section of a photo, completely unrelated to SATC, that Parker posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Us Weekly reports. “You are still my hero. please replace or write her out kim/samantha if she is not interested and bring back sex and the city movie #3. the fans need this,” the commenter wrote. Parker responded soon after, seemingly ending speculation about the film’s prospects. “Not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her. X,” she wrote, adding a purple heart emoji to soften the blow.

Parker first crushed all hopes of a third Sex and the City movie in late 2017, when she told Extra, “We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.” The next day, after anonymous reports surfaced claiming Cattrall’s on-set “demands” were the reason production had come to a standstill, she fired back, admitting that she’d never wanted to reprise the role of Samantha Jones at all.

Shortly after, Cattrall spoke out again, reiterating her “respectful, firm no” to SATC 3, and calling out Parker for seemingly painting Cattrall as the enemy of SATC fans everywhere. “This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and, specifically, Sarah Jessica Parker, in that I think she could have been nicer,” she said. “I really think she could have been nicer…. I don’t know what her issue is, I never have.”

Since then, despite Cattrall publicly calling out Parker for being “cruel” and “exploiting” the tragedy of Cattrall’s brother’s death, SJP has maintained that there’s not actually a “feud” between the former costars, no matter how much the misogynistic media loves to pit women against one another. That said, she did admit to Andy Cohen that she’s “heartbroken” by Cattrall’s comments. “I found it very upsetting, because that’s not the way I recall our experience. It’s sad, but I always think that what ties us together is this singular experience. It was a professional experience, but it became personal, because it was years and years of our lives, so I hope that that sort of eclipses anything that’s been recently spoken,” Parker said earlier this year.

Purple Eyeshadow Will Be Huge This Fall, According to Pinterest

On the surface, colorful eyeshadow seems intimidating. It’s one thing to see an Instagram makeup artist blend eight shades across her lid and call it a Tuesday afternoon, and another to pick up a bright color yourself and go at it with confidence. But with more stars by the day making bold eyeshadow look approachable and fun, the trend at long last feels not only aspirational—but doable.

Which is why it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that searches for purple eyeshadow are up on Pinterest this season by 52 percent. Add to the fact that brands like Glossier, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Flesh are throwing their weight behind purple-centric launches, and it’s no wonder that women are looking for ideas of how to play with the shade.

The good news is that purple has been on the back burner for so long that any way you wear it feels fresh. Celebrity makeup artist Tasha Reiko Brown recommends beginners start with a sheer wash of purple, either in a creamy formula or with a shimmery color that bounces off some light (Glossier Lidstar in Lily and Fenty Match Stix in Unicorn were basically built for this). Makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes coined the hashtag #biglilacenergy for her purple-loving looks, the most instantly recognizable being a wash of glossy, pastel purple shadow across her lids (below). It’s stunning, but an investment, so she suggests another approach to get started: a winged-out liner using eyeshadow to see how you like the color on yourself.

Hughes says that pretty much any pastel or medium-tone purple eyeshadow will work; her trademark look came from the now discontinued Kat Von D Pastel Goth palette. Lighter skin tones can stay in the range of soft colors, while people with medium and deep skin tones can pick from light to deep shades (though too-light pastels do run the risk of looking ashy on medium skin tones, she warns). Makeup artist Maddie North says she’s a fan of the Hourglass Graphik Eyeshadow Palette in Expose, thanks to its spectrum of beautiful, unintimidating purples.

A gentle wash of warm lavender looks both sophisticated and lighthearted, while increasing the intensity and choosing a cool-tone pastel shade creates a mod sixties vibe. For the glossy Instagram finish above, Hughes topped her look with a clear lip gloss like Shisiedo Crystal Gel Gloss, while North says Kevyn Aucoin Diamond Eye Gloss doesn’t leave her side.

For a more smoky, jewel-tone purple look, Brown suggests using a cream shadow like Maybelline’s Vintage Plum on your lids first, packing it on with a tightly bristled eyeshadow brush. Give it a minute to set, and then dab a tiny squeeze of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream above your iris to bring light to your lids. Sweep on a peach blush if you want something else on your face, Hughes says. And as long as your skin looks fresh and moisturized, she says to go wild and put on lipstick too, if you want. You’re wearing purple eyeshadow. There’s nothing you can’t do.

Rihanna Wore a Snakeskin Dress and Matching Bucket Hat

It’s become increasingly apparent that snakeskin prints are a predominant trend for fall 2018. Though in street style and on the runway snakeskin has been presented as an accent piece—a statement item that stands out against more neutral, everyday pieces—Rihanna‘s making the case for a more-is-more approach. Because Bad Gal’s not one to half-ass a look.

Rihanna is currently celebrating one year of Fenty Beauty with a worldwide tour, which has included stops in Dubai and Singapore. In Sydney, she stepped out with a maximalist take on the snakeskin trend. (Ironically enough, this isn’t a trend for those who prefer to blend in.)

Teddy Coats: Shop the Best 24 Versions to Wear All Winter

Last year there was a teddy coat so popular everybody owned it. Or at least everybody had seen it. It was made by I.AM.GIA, an affordable brand that’s popular among both traditional celebrities and the Instagram variety, and it was their Pixie coat, an oversize caramel confection with large front pockets and the type of supersoft faux fur that doesn’t feel unlike snuggling up to your favorite childhood stuffed animal.

This year it seems retailers at every price point have caught on, and the number of teddy coats we have to choose from is pretty massive. And while I.AM.GIA’s beloved style has sold out many times over (hot tip: a slightly altered version is available on corners of the Internet), brands like Mango, Free People, Sandy Liang and The Arrivals (to name a few) all have their own iterations.

Whether you want an oversize style—reminiscent of the 1970s—a cropped bomber version, or a teddy coat in a color that’s not exactly subtle (lavender or lipstick red, anyone?) , there’s bound to be one that you love. Shop our 24 favorites for fall 2018, below.

20 Statement-Sleeve Tops Worth the Hassle

Most days, when you’re getting dressed, the goal is to not overthink it—as long as your clothes don’t get in the way of anything you have to do, then you’re good to go. But sometimes a little fuss can be fun, and even worth the extra hassle. Take the statement-sleeve trend, for instance: A relative of the never-ending off-the-shoulder craze, it plays up blouses by adding embellishments to sleeves (think ruffles, contrasting fabric) or playing with their shape (by adding volume, cut-outs, or extra length) . And it’ll make your jeans or trousers feel a lot more fun.

For those days where you feel like doing a lil’ something extra (but no more than “a lil'”), consider the 20 statement-sleeved blouses ahead.

Meghan Markle Brought Back Her Wedding Hair For Her First Trip to Sussex

When Meghan Markle and Prince Harry arrived in the English county of Sussex on Wednesday, all was right in the world: The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were, appropriately, in Sussex. Markle and Prince Harry were back on their joint royal outing grind, and Markle’s hair had made its triumphant return to her now-famous low, slightly undone bun. This is the first time we’ve seen the bun in a while, since she’s taken to wearing her hair down and either pin-straight or in beachy waves for recent appearances.

In fact, the duchess’s hairstyle on Wednesday was almost exactly the same as the look she wore to her wedding in May—so perhaps it was paying homage to the day she received her Sussex title. The bun was low and securely pinned to the nape of her neck, her hair was parted right down the middle, and a few face-framing tendrils were loosely curled and left free to add movement and soften the look.

It makes sense that Markle would repeat this style time and time (and time) again, since, as her wedding hairstylist Serge Normant explained to Glamour, it only takes about 45 minutes to create—less if the day isn’t as important as, you know, your literal wedding day—and perfectly captures Markle’s effortless glam and easygoing vibe. “We wanted something that would have an easy feel to it,” Normant said. “We both knew we wanted to do something very loose in the back and soft in the front…I know everyone’s fixating on the word ‘messy,’ but it was more like unstructured volume. A low bun in the back with dimension.”

The rest of her look for the appearance was similarly attainable and down-to-earth. Her green silk shirt, for example, is less than $100 from & Other Stories.

Markle and Prince Harry are in Sussex just for the day. So far, per social media updates from Kensington Palace, they’ve received an extremely warm welcome from the locals, visited one of just two existing authentic copies of the Declaration of Independence, and headed on to the University of Chichester. Next up, they’ll travel to East Sussex, where they’ll visit the Royal Pavilion, the Survivors Network of Britain, and the Peacehaven Youth Centre.

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas Just Made Their Red Carpet Debut as a Couple

Sophie Turner and Joe Jonas have been dating for almost two years and engaged for one, but somehow, until this week, they had never walked a red carpet together. It was probably worth the wait, though, since they chose the perfect event to break this dry spell: the Louis Vuitton show at Paris Fashion Week on Tuesday evening (October 2), People reports.

The pair went all out for their red carpet walk, sporting coordinating outfits and sticking close to each other’s sides all night. Turner wore a velvet black shirt with a gold design and a tie-front waist, a gray miniskirt, black leather thigh-high boots, and a gray handbag. Jonas, meanwhile, dressed up in a black mock-neck shirt under a crisply tailored gray suit.

After their fashionable night out, the lovebirds both took to Instagram to celebrate making it red carpet official. Turner posted a photo of the pair at dinner, with Jonas pulling her close and kissing the side of her head, writing, “With my love in Paris.” Jonas posted the same pic, plus another in which he’s facing the camera, and captioned the set with the French flag and red heart emojis.

This month marks one year since the lovebirds announced their engagement. And it might be a bit longer before they actually walk down the aisle, since Jonas recently shared that they’re not in any rush to tie the knot, choosing instead to prioritize exploring the world together. “We’ve been trying to take some time off while running around Europe. It’s been really exciting to play shows here in the summer, when people are out and about and the energy is top-notch. So right now, as far as down-time for us, we’re just being tourists,” he told The Evening Standard in June.

Turner, too, seems pretty content with staying engaged for the foreseeable future. “I’m still like, ‘Holy sh*t! I’m engaged,'” she told Marie Claire earlier this year. “It’s lovely to be engaged. Not like I achieved anything, but I found my person, like I’d find a house that I love and want to stay in forever. There’s a sense of peace that comes with finding your person. But there’s a drive that comes with your career.”
