Watch Lady Gaga Tear Up While Surprising Fans at A Star Is Born Screening

With the release of A Star Is Born inching closer, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga are deep in the throes of one of the most extensive press tours in recent memory. In other words, these two really want you to see their movie. So much so, in fact, that they might even drop in on a screening, which is exactly what Gaga did in New York on Wednesday, October 3.

Decked out in a shimmering red turtleneck dress, the singer turned actress greeted the audience after a brief introduction from Tyler Oakley. “I love you so much,” she said, per a clip from Good Morning America. “Thank you so, so much from the bottom of my heart for being here tonight.”

Then, as she’s done throughout the whirlwind press circuit, Gaga heaped praise on her costar and director, Bradley Cooper. “All you need is just for one person to believe,” Gaga told the audience. “So, I have to say thank you to my incredible director, Bradley Cooper. This is the moment that Bradley gives the film over to you and to the world. I am so grateful and so humbled that it is moving people and that’s all that matters. So, this our gift to you. We love you.”

Unless you’ve recently signed a year-long lease for a sensory-deprivation tank, it’s been impossible to ignore the enormous hype surrounding this movie. It currently sits at a sparkling 94 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, and is considered by many to be the front-runner at this year’s Oscars. Beyond the merits of the film itself, Gaga’s ultra-devoted fan base has been crucial in elevating A Star Is Born to the top of the pop-culture pyramid. So naturally, she also thanked her Little Monsters for helping to get her to this point.

“It would be a lie to not think each and every one of you who has supported me over the years, I would not be here without you,” she said. She added, per E! News, that she will “never forget when I looked into the eyes of my fans for the first time and I saw myself,” and added that “you are fighters. You are beautiful, and I love you.”

That’s going to be one helluva an Oscars acceptance speech.

Gisele Bündchen Cried Before Her First Major Runway Show—And It Wasn’t Out of Happiness

Gisele Bündchen has walked down 600-plus runways throughout her 20-year career as a model. But in her new memoir, Lessons: My Path to a Meaningful Life, she reveals that her first major fashion show was far from a positive experience. In fact, she broke down crying before stepping on the runway.

Back in 1998, Bündchen recalls being set to appear in an Alexander McQueen show—her first ever international gig, according to Cosmopolitan—and “couldn’t believe” that she had been chosen. But that excitement would melt away when she saw her look for the first time, the day of: a skirt—and nothing else.

“Where’s the top?” Bündchen remembers asking someone, who informed her that there wasn’t one. The model then started to cry, as she was afraid that coming down the runway topless would disappoint her family. “I was a good girl. I was a tomboy. I was someone whose big breasts had embarrassed her since she’d hit puberty,” she writes, per Cosmopolitan. “I was a girl gripped by the fear that my family would feel so embarrassed they would never speak to me again. I was terrified.”

Thankfully, someone backstage had her back: “As soon as Val, the makeup artist, saw the situation, she said she would paint a top on me using white makeup… Val told me how beautiful it looked and said that the runway was so dark nobody would know,” Bündchen recalls. Because the show took place in the rain, “no one could tell what was rain and what was tears.”

Bündchen writes that her family never saw the photos from the show. And according to Cosmopolitan, she credits that Alexander McQueen show as one of the most important jumping-off points of her career. Still, she’s not the only model to speak out about the pressure of going topless, especially when you’re starting out: Kate Moss recently opened up about a similar experience at a photoshoot, saying “there was pressure… I worked with a woman photographer called Corinne Day, and she always liked me with no top on. And I did not like it at all when I first started.”

In the wake of the #MeToo, the fashion industry has been taking steps to protect models in these types of situations, through programs and even legislation, to give support and offer them resources.

Happy Thursday: Prince Harry Just a Kissed a Royal Fan

A woman named Lydia received quite the surprise yesterday (October 3) when Prince Harry gave her a royal kiss on the hand. Yup!

Here’s what happened: While Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were on their official visit to Sussex, they did a meet-and-greet session with fans. When the couple got to Lydia—who the Daily Mail reports is an 80-year-old woman—she told Markle that she looked “so beautiful.” And then, Prince Harry swooped in to give her a peck on the hand.

Lydia replied by giggling and saying, “Oh thank you!” You can watch the full video, below:

Prince Harry and Lydia’s adorable moment wasn’t the only dose of royal PDA that fans got during the duke and duchess’s trip to their namesake Sussex. (This was the first trip they took to Sussex, by the way: a fact that’s delighted the Internet.) While chatting with and fist-bumping some school-age children, Markle gave Prince Harry a sweet back rub, likely returning the favor from the time he gave her an impromptu massage at the WellChild Awards in September. Their visit also involved a cute interaction between Prince Harry and a golden retriever. It’s like he’s trying to make us swoon, ya know?

The royal couple is reportedly planning to take their first ever trip to the United States next year. They have no official plans on the books just yet—insiders claim they’re looking at New York, D.C., California, and Canada as potential destinations.

Listen to Cara Delevingne Sing About London for Her New Burberry Fragrance Ad

Cara Delevingne is officially a triple threat. She continues to kill it on every runway imaginable (see: Paris this season, where Ashley Benson was in the front row to watch). She’s set to star in the upcoming Amazon Prime video series Carnival Row, opposite Orlando Bloom next year. And as the face of Burberry’s new fragrance, Her, which drops today, Delevingne also proves to have a decent set of pipes. She sings a little ditty for the scent’s TV campaign (listen for yourself down below). Talk about talent.

We caught up with the 26-year-old stunner in her hometown of London to chat about her self-love beauty secrets and the tricks that keep her happy and glowing—on the small screen, red carpet, and everywhere in between.

Glamour: What’s your beauty philosophy?

Cara Delevingne: Not to label yourself or care about what other people think. It’s about being confident in who you are, what you wear, and what you look like. That’s easier said than done, but I think it’s something we should live by. And we need to praise each other. By lifting others up, we lift ourselves up.

Glamour: Is there anything that gives you a fast pick-me-up?

CD: When I’ve had a really long day, a fragrance can lift my spirits. Burberry Her reminds me of a happy person, carefree and living life to the fullest. And I always carry a mascara. I like having those really spiky Twiggy lashes that frame your eyes. When you’re tired, people don’t see that, they’re looking at your eyelashes.

Glamour: Any other products you love?

CD: Dior skin care has really made a difference in how tired my skin looks. I’m only 26, but I travel a lot and deal with eye bags. It keeps my skin looking fresh.

Glamour: You do a lot of advocacy work for young women. How would you like to see the definitions of beauty and sexuality change?

CD: Everyone’s idea of themselves, sexuality, femininity, and what it is to be human is different. The more we’re honest with each other, the more we can grow. Through acceptance and communication, we can better understand one another.

Glamour: What is your healthiest habit?

CD: I meditate, and I do yoga as much as I can. I try to do it twice a day, but sometimes I prefer to be sleeping.

Glamour: What’s your least healthy habit?

CD: Being hard on myself. Even if I do something I should be proud of, I automatically disregard it. I get scared about what other people think, and that’s bad. It’s something I’m working to change.

Glamour: How so?

CD: Realizing that the mistakes you make don’t define who you are, and that it’s OK to be angry, to be upset, to not be happy all the time. It’s OK to not smile if you don’t want to smile. It’s about learning to accept yourself.

Rihanna Is Here to Convince You That Blue Highlighter Actually Looks Amazing

Fenty Beauty is dropping products so quickly, it’s impossible to keep up. After surprising fans with four new shades of Stunna Lip Paint, the brand just announced its new-new for the holidays, and—well—it’s a doozy. Fenty is releasing its first highlighter palette.

Last night, Rihanna made an appearance in Sydney, Australia where she revealed the first (in what’s sure to be much more to come) of Fenty’s #\CHILLOWT holiday collection. The seven-pan palette includes just about every shade of highlighter under the rainbow, which we mean quite literally. The Killawatt Foil Palette contains metallic purple, pink, white, red, orange, bronze, and blue (yep) options available to aid in your glow-up. And, like all of Fenty’s products, they can be used pretty much however you deem fit.

Fans, as you can imagine, have been going rightly bonkers over it online. “OH HELL YES!!! THIS IS GOING TO BE MINE,” one user commented on Instagram. “Ri Ri really out her got me buying more highlighter ok goodbye wig, goodbye bank account,” shared another.

The palette is launching at midnight on October 4 (so basically tonight) for anyone who lives in Australia or New Zealand. The rest of us have to wait until October 12 when it start rolling out in Sephora stores in the U.S. and online. According to the brand, this is only just the beginning from the collection. So buckle up, Rih-mas is looking good this year.

Kate Hudson’s Baby Girl Has Arrived, and the Inspiration for Her Name Is So Sweet

Congrats are in order for Kate Hudson! The actress announced the birth of her daughter on her Instagram on Thursday afternoon, October 3, with the caption: “She’s here.” In the post she writes, “Everyone is doing well and happy as can be. Our family thanks you for all the love and blessings that have been sent our way and we send ours right back.”

The little girl, born on October 2, is the first child for Hudson and her boyfriend, Danny Fujikawa. She’s also mom to two sons—Ryder and Bing—from previous relationships. And it seems that the actress and Fujikawa had family in mind when deciding on their daughter’s name: Rani Rose Hudson Fujikawa.

“We have decided to name our daughter Rani (pronounced Ronnie) after her grandfather, Ron Fujikawsa,” Hudson writes. “Ron was the most special man who we all miss dearly. To name her after him is an honor.”

See the full post, below:

Hudson first announced her third pregnancy and that she was having a girl on social media via a video with many pink balloons. She also confessed in the post that she’d been suffering from morning sickness.

“SURPRISE!!!,” she wrote. “If you’ve wondered why I’ve been so absent on my social channels it’s because I have never been more sick! It was the most sick first trimester of all my children…We have been trying to keep this pregnancy under the radar for as long as possible but I’m a poppin now! And it’s too darn challenging to hide, and frankly hiding is more exhausting then just coming out with it! My kids, Danny, myself and the entire family are crazy excited! A little girl on the way 💕”

And since the announcement, she’s been taking followers along on her pregnancy journey—from family vacations and baby showers to workouts and trips to The Ellen Degeneres Show with her mom, Goldie Hawn, to promote their Fabletics collaboration.

Congrats to the family on the birth of baby Rani Rose!

‘The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina’ First Full Trailer Is Here, and It’s So Good

After a promising teaser, Netflix has cast a spell on us mortal viewers by releasing the full-length trailer for its upcoming Chilling Adventures of Sabrina series. And while the teaser relied more on spooky jump-scares that paralleled Carrie or, uh, the complete antithesis of the Sabrina the Teenage Witch sitcom of the early aughts, Netflix leaned in to campier fun this time around—Sabrina’s a pretty goofy teen, after all!

As we discover, Sabrina (the perfectly cast Kiernan Shipka) is doing what suburban teen girls usually do at that age: go on fun dates, flirt a little, complain about school, and fight with her family about trivial matters. But underneath her facade of normalcy is a looming choice of astronomical and permanent importance, which we’ll allow our gal to explain in her voiceover: “In the town of Greendale, where it always feels like Halloween, there lived a girl who was half witch and half mortal, who on their sixteenth birthday had to choose between two worlds. The witch world of her family, and the human world of her friends. And that girl is me.”

It’s not not like she’s unwilling to forsake the path of light and follow the path of the night, she just needs a little more time to be convinced that worshiping Satan for the rest of her life is the right path for her. So, off she goes into juggling her mortal high school life with her witch training life, and those paths inevitably diverge at inconvenient times. (A séance during first period is totally inconvenient.) Her aunts, Salem the cat, and boyfriend Harvey all help along the way. What could possibly go wrong?

The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina will debut on October 26.

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry Were So Touchy-Feely at Today’s Royal Engagement

Very important news, fam: Meghan Markle was spotted giving Prince Harry a back rub during an official royal engagement on Wednesday (October 3).

The couple is currently touring Sussex (the land of which they are duke and duchess) and attended a meet-and-greet with a group of children. While Prince Harry was busy high-fiving and fist-bumping the little ones, Markle gave him a loving back massage. Royal reporter Rebecca English caught the entire adorable moment on camera (which lasted for nearly a minute), and as with all things related to Markle and Prince Harry’s PDA, we’re swooning.

Fans took to Twitter to praise Markle’s tactile moment. “I love that they hold hands. Nice to see in this mad world. It is refreshing to see that they are comfortable showing their respect and love for each other. Tiny displays of affection but very sweet,” wrote one user. “I actually think it important to show affection by holding hands in front of school children. It would be good if children saw this example at home. Unsaid words = affection. Simple,” agreed another.

Perhaps Markle was simply returning the favor for her royal hubby, who has been known to rub her back during official visits. At the WellChild Awards last month, the prince was spotted caressing his wife’s back in a similar manner. The couple has become well-known for their PDA, which has ranged from hand-holding at events to a very, very memorable smooch at a polo match over the summer.

Markle’s impromptu massage session wasn’t the only adorable moment to come out of Wednesday’s visit to Sussex. Prince Harry’s high-fiving was nothing short of aww-worthy, and the prince also buddied up with a friendly golden retriever. Frankly, our hearts can barely handle it.

Sarah Jessica Parker Says She Can’t Imagine ‘Sex and the City 3’ Without Kim Cattrall

Unfortunately for those still holding out hope for another Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda reunion, Sarah Jessica Parker may have just shut down plans for a third Sex and the City movie once and for all. Months after she and Kim Cattrall each traded (indirect) remarks about the possibility of a second sequel—to recap: Parker is a yes, but Cattrall is a hard no—SJP admitted that she’s not willing to move forward with SATC 3 if all four women aren’t involved.

Early Wednesday morning, an apparently avid fan took to the comments section of a photo, completely unrelated to SATC, that Parker posted on Instagram on Tuesday, Us Weekly reports. “You are still my hero. please replace or write her out kim/samantha if she is not interested and bring back sex and the city movie #3. the fans need this,” the commenter wrote. Parker responded soon after, seemingly ending speculation about the film’s prospects. “Not sure if I can imagine doing another movie without her. X,” she wrote, adding a purple heart emoji to soften the blow.

Parker first crushed all hopes of a third Sex and the City movie in late 2017, when she told Extra, “We had this beautiful, funny, heartbreaking, joyful, very relatable script and story. It’s not just disappointing that we don’t get to tell the story and have that experience, but more so for that audience that has been so vocal in wanting another movie.” The next day, after anonymous reports surfaced claiming Cattrall’s on-set “demands” were the reason production had come to a standstill, she fired back, admitting that she’d never wanted to reprise the role of Samantha Jones at all.

Shortly after, Cattrall spoke out again, reiterating her “respectful, firm no” to SATC 3, and calling out Parker for seemingly painting Cattrall as the enemy of SATC fans everywhere. “This is really where I take to task the people from Sex and the City and, specifically, Sarah Jessica Parker, in that I think she could have been nicer,” she said. “I really think she could have been nicer…. I don’t know what her issue is, I never have.”

Since then, despite Cattrall publicly calling out Parker for being “cruel” and “exploiting” the tragedy of Cattrall’s brother’s death, SJP has maintained that there’s not actually a “feud” between the former costars, no matter how much the misogynistic media loves to pit women against one another. That said, she did admit to Andy Cohen that she’s “heartbroken” by Cattrall’s comments. “I found it very upsetting, because that’s not the way I recall our experience. It’s sad, but I always think that what ties us together is this singular experience. It was a professional experience, but it became personal, because it was years and years of our lives, so I hope that that sort of eclipses anything that’s been recently spoken,” Parker said earlier this year.

Purple Eyeshadow Will Be Huge This Fall, According to Pinterest

On the surface, colorful eyeshadow seems intimidating. It’s one thing to see an Instagram makeup artist blend eight shades across her lid and call it a Tuesday afternoon, and another to pick up a bright color yourself and go at it with confidence. But with more stars by the day making bold eyeshadow look approachable and fun, the trend at long last feels not only aspirational—but doable.

Which is why it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that searches for purple eyeshadow are up on Pinterest this season by 52 percent. Add to the fact that brands like Glossier, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and Flesh are throwing their weight behind purple-centric launches, and it’s no wonder that women are looking for ideas of how to play with the shade.

The good news is that purple has been on the back burner for so long that any way you wear it feels fresh. Celebrity makeup artist Tasha Reiko Brown recommends beginners start with a sheer wash of purple, either in a creamy formula or with a shimmery color that bounces off some light (Glossier Lidstar in Lily and Fenty Match Stix in Unicorn were basically built for this). Makeup artist Katie Jane Hughes coined the hashtag #biglilacenergy for her purple-loving looks, the most instantly recognizable being a wash of glossy, pastel purple shadow across her lids (below). It’s stunning, but an investment, so she suggests another approach to get started: a winged-out liner using eyeshadow to see how you like the color on yourself.

Hughes says that pretty much any pastel or medium-tone purple eyeshadow will work; her trademark look came from the now discontinued Kat Von D Pastel Goth palette. Lighter skin tones can stay in the range of soft colors, while people with medium and deep skin tones can pick from light to deep shades (though too-light pastels do run the risk of looking ashy on medium skin tones, she warns). Makeup artist Maddie North says she’s a fan of the Hourglass Graphik Eyeshadow Palette in Expose, thanks to its spectrum of beautiful, unintimidating purples.

A gentle wash of warm lavender looks both sophisticated and lighthearted, while increasing the intensity and choosing a cool-tone pastel shade creates a mod sixties vibe. For the glossy Instagram finish above, Hughes topped her look with a clear lip gloss like Shisiedo Crystal Gel Gloss, while North says Kevyn Aucoin Diamond Eye Gloss doesn’t leave her side.

For a more smoky, jewel-tone purple look, Brown suggests using a cream shadow like Maybelline’s Vintage Plum on your lids first, packing it on with a tightly bristled eyeshadow brush. Give it a minute to set, and then dab a tiny squeeze of Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour Cream above your iris to bring light to your lids. Sweep on a peach blush if you want something else on your face, Hughes says. And as long as your skin looks fresh and moisturized, she says to go wild and put on lipstick too, if you want. You’re wearing purple eyeshadow. There’s nothing you can’t do.
